Usually, to optimize control strategies or to tune PID loops, operators have to switch to manual mode and move the controller output. This is time consuming and request operator attention. Also, process control personnel have to be involved during the tests.
Indeed, TaiJi-PID analyzes loops where special noise has been injected at setpoint. When configuring the system, process control specialist will define high and low limit; during tests, software will maintain setpoint small changes within those limits.
Testing can be done during the night, the week-end or at anytime. A campaign is launched; operators have the possibility to stop testing or let it run. Operation can move setpoint, switch mode and operate normally. When process control engineer or technician comes back, he will validate analyses, select performance criterion and software will calculate new tuning parameters.
Even historical data can be used to tune loops if setpoint changes occur.
