Objectives:

This hands-on seminar will allow you to understand and utilize enhanced PID control strategies (decoupling, feed forward) and advanced control (fuzzy logic, multivariable process control/APC) and to use new tools for simulation and optimization. As a result, you will be able to increase your plant's productivity.

Your Instructor: 

Dr. Hank Brittain holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech, Atlanta.  He has over 20 years experience as a process control engineer and has spent 15 years optimizing processes for a wide variety of industries, including consumer products, crude oil extraction and separation onshore and offshore, refining, chemical production, power generation and boiler control, mining processing, water purification, and NASA Rocket HVAC control.  He has trained thousands of engineers, technicians, and managers in China, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Mexico, Canada, South America, Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States.

- Using empirical models

Fuzzy Logic
- Fuzzy sets
- Fuzzy rules
- Fuzzification and defuzzification
- Hands-on with fuzzy logic

Mulitvariable Process Control/APC
- Differentiating between MPC, APC, Expert Systems, Fuzzy Logic, and Advanced Regulatory Control
- The difference between feedforward, feedback, and MPC
- Theory and components of MPC
- Implementation of MPC
- Hands-on  with MPC/APC

 
It Is strongly recommended that anyone taking WS-130-2E have previously taken ME-200-3E or SE-100-3E or the equivalent.
